Applying genetic information to prevent colorectal cancer

The revolution in genomics has proven a powerful means to define the variation in DNA sequence between humans and also between the host and their respective tumour. As well as being a strategy to identify new targets for treatment, genomic technologies offer the potential to exploit such information to prevent cancer through risk prediction, risk re-classification, identification of gene environment interactions, as well as the holy grail of identifying causative pathways that are modifiable by specific interventions. This talk will focus on how genetics can impact on prevention of large bowel cancer and horizon-gaze towards future possibilities in the field..
