Abstract

Background
Although the majority of chemotherapy patients living in Wales receive their treatment in hospital, for some years Velindre NHS Trust has delivered chemotherapy in outreach clinics. Tenovus, the cancer charity, in conjunction with Velindre, has developed a new concept of closer-to-home-delivery for chemotherapy: a Mobile Unit (or Bus). The Bus is different from other outreach clinics because it provides both chemotherapy and offers social welfare advice to cancer patients and their families.
